Groups without Vehicles
Instructions For Parade Participants Arriving by Car
Parade registration will take place between 10:30 AM and 12:00 noon at the Carbon County Courthouse Annex. Please designate one person only to register your group to ease congestion. At registration you will receive parade division assignments.
Shuttle buses will transport participants to their parade starting point. Shuttle buses will leave from in front of the Courthouse Annex. The last shuttle bus will leave for the parade formation point at 12:15 PM sharp. Again, we urge you to arrive and register as early as possible.
Please board the first available bus and form your group at the parade formation point. Groups do not need to form at the Court House Annex. Please get on the first available bus. We cannot guarantee shuttle service after 12:15 P.M., and we will not delay the start time of the parade.
The County Parking Lot behind the Train Station is run by Carbon County and will be available for parade participants and visitors. The parade ending point is also the County Lot. Parade participants can park, register, be transported by shuttle bus to the parade starting point, and at the end of the parade have easy access to vehicles.
Although the County Lot has a large capacity, we know it will fill to capacity. Please carpool and arrive as early as possible to ensure you will find convenient parking at the county lot. Historically the lot is full & closed by approximately 11:15 A.M.
Restroom facilities will be available at the lot and the train station.
Note: alcoholic beverages are not permitted on County property or in the line of march.
Additional Spectator Parking
Additional parade parking for spectators is available at the Jim Thorpe Area High School on the east side of Jim Thorpe. Shuttle service will run every half hour from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. The shuttle will transport spectators from the H.S. to downtown Jim Thorpe. The last return shuttle will be at 5:00 P.M. Additional bus stops will be at 6th & North St, & 9th & North St.
The parade formation will take place at the west end of West Broadway in Jim Thorpe. The parade will start promptly at 1:00 PM, march down West Broadway and Broadway and end at the County Parking Lot. This will bring the parade straight through the scenic Downtown Historic District. Approximate distance is 1 to 1 1/2 miles of down hill marching.
Special notes: It is not appropriate in a parade honoring Saint Patrick for any participating group to drink or carry alcoholic beverages in the line of march. We also ask vehicle operators to refrain from blowing horns or sirens in the parade. For the safety of children please do not throw candy or souvenirs from vehicles.
Parade is Rain or Shine!
The Reviewing Stand will be at The Inn at Jim Thorpe. We encourage bands and organizations to perform briefly for the Parade Dignitaries -- please respect the groups behind you. If you have music to be played over the public address system at the reviewing stand, please make arrangements with Parade Chairman Hugh Dugan (570-325-3359) A.S.A.P.
We ask all organizations to acknowledge the Dignitaries on the Reviewing Stand.
Thank you for participating in our parade honoring Saint Patrick!
